Mr. Blumhagen

I am a Red Seal journeyman hairstylist with more than a decade of experience in the trade. My Bachelor of Education degree was obtained at the University of Alberta with a focus on CTS Education. My Master's degree was obtained at Concordia University in Portland, where I explored CTS and Aboriginal Education in my thesis research.

Cosmetology 9 is an introduction to many of the concepts that will be explored in depth throughout the high school CTS Cosmetology program. Much of the work is completed in the classroom, with a variety of projects designed to introduce topics such as equipment, safety and product usage. The main goal of Cos 9 is to provide students with an overview of personal hygiene and building self esteem.

In Cos 10, students will begin their exploration of the CTS programming related to hairstyling and esthetics, which is further scaffolded throughout the 20 and 30 programs. The majority of time in the high school program will be spent in the lab, where students will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills on mannequins and peers. By the completion of Cos 30, students will have a firm understanding of a variety of  theories and practical applications related to hairstyling and esthetics.
