Welcome to Mrs. Manjak-Gill's Homepage.

The 2016-2017 year has begun, and what a great year it is going to be!  This will be my first year teaching at Bert Church High School, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this great community.  I have a diverse background ranging from working with at risk youth, teaching middle school humanities, and coordinating the English Language Learners program at my former school.  I began with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Calgary, which led me to a Bachelors in Education, also at the University of Calgary.

This year I will be teaching English 9, English 20-1, Social 20-1, and Social 10-1.  I am excited to be able to engage students with a mix of modern and classical literature, themes such as fear and guilt, as well as helping them understand and analyze the implications of nationalism and globalization on the world as we know it.

I strongly believe that education is empowerment and that every student has the capacity to be successful.  Each student is unique in their strengths and passions, and if engaged will continue to learn.  Attending classes, participating in learning tasks, and striving to obtain a growth mindset will allow students to experience academic success!

I’ll see you in class!
