Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year!

Although I am currently teaching Social 10 this semester, I have 8+ years teaching all levels of the high school Social Studies curriculum, as well as 4+ years helping design and mark the Social 30 diploma exams. I have a Bachelors degree in History, specializing in Canadian, American, European, and diplomatic/military history from the University of Calgary. I also have a Bachelors degree in Education, with a Secondary Social Studies specialization from the University of Calgary as well. I have a significant passion and interest in all types of history, and I enjoy incorporating this into all my classes.

My educational practices mirror closely my belief that students need to become well-informed critical thinkers, and because of this my Humanities classes focus on these skill areas, including, but not limited to:

1. A strong ability to read and write.

2. A critical eye to details, so that information can be analyzed and incorporated into students learning so they can become proactive and engaged citizens.

3. Students understanding their learning style and ability, so that they can continue to be successful in all of their educational pursuits, both in the classroom and outside it.
