Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year!

I have 8+ years teaching all levels of the high school Social Studies curriculum and 4 years teaching English 10-30 level; as well as 4+ years helping design and mark the Social 30 diploma exams. I have a Bachelors degree in History, specializing in Canadian, American, European, and diplomatic/military history, and a Bachelors degree in Education, with a Secondary Social Studies specialization, both of which are from the University of Calgary. I have a significant passion and interest in all types of history, and I enjoy incorporating this into all my classes.

My educational practices mirror closely my belief that students need to become well-informed critical thinkers, and because of this my Humanities classes focus on these skill areas, including, but not limited to:

1. A strong ability to read and write.

2. A critical eye to details, so that information can be analyzed and incorporated into students learning to help them become proactive and engaged citizens.

3. Students understanding their learning style and ability, so that they can continue to be successful in all of their educational pursuits, both in the classroom and outside it.
