Mr. J. Macrae

This is my first year teaching at Bert Church High School, having previously taught at Springbank High.

This year, I will be teaching English 9, English 10.1, English 10.2/4, English 20.1, and Social 10.1. I am excited and eager to begin the year - we have lots of great literature to read and study together! - and I will endeavour to provide all students in my charge with an engaging, enriching, and entertaining exploration of English literature and language.

At the heart of my practices as a classroom teacher are three pedagogical values.

I believe that learning (anything) will enrich your life.
I believe that while we each have our own unique strengths and struggles, anyone can learn anything if the desire and drive to do so is present.
I believe that passion for the subject and positive relationships with students are at the heart of an engaging classroom.

Remember, if you attend all classes, participate in our activities, debates, and discussions, and complete all assignments, I will GUARANTEE your success in any course I teach.
