Hi Everyone,

I hope this email finds you doing well and you've had a good week. Please see some important updates below.

1. Weekly Learning Plans

Monday, June 22nd will be the last installment of our learning plans for the year. Students will not have any summative assessments this week due to the time needed to finalize marks and store them. A few important details for you to remember as we head into the final weeks.

a. Students' marks could not go down with at-home learning, they could only go up. On PowerSchool, this means no matter what happened after at-home learning with core classes and non-CTS option classes, the student's R3 mark would be the lowest mark they would receive on their report card.

b. Students could potentially fail a course only if they were failing prior to at-home learning and did not engage in their learning enough to move their mark to a passing position. Students who do not successfully complete a course will receive unallocated credits, which count towards the 100 credit graduation requirement but do not count as pre-requisites for future courses. This means is a student receives a 42% in Math 20-2, the will receive 5 unallocated credits, not 5 credits in Math 20-2. Next year, the student will have to take Math 20-2 again if they would like to take Math 30-2.

c. Comments will be more standardized due to COVID and the transition to at-home learning.

Report cards will be issued online on Monday, June 29th. More information on how to access these will be communicated in next week's Charger Connects

Yearbook Signing: SOCIALLY DISTANCED EDITION

We are excited to announce that the Bert Church yearbook signing tradition is alive and it’s fully digital to suit our socially distanced students.

Jostens has just launched a new platform, Yearbook Digital Signing Pages, that gives every student in our school the chance to create virtual signing pages, invite their friends/family to leave messages, and print out the final pages to keep with the yearbook as a permanent keepsake. This is free for every student whether they purchased a yearbook or not.

Instructions:

  • Create an account at yearbooksigning.jostens.com
  • Pick a date (end of June) for when you want all the signatures by.
  • Select OTHER (end of list) when asked for which State
  • On the next page you will create an account with your email address and password. You will then be sent a verification code via email.
  • Enter this code and then you’ll be given a link to your own signing pages. Copy that link and share it with anyone (friends/family/school staff) you want to “sign your yearbook”. Once the end date arrives, you can print them. Any messages you don’t want can be deleted when you login to your account.
  • When signing other people’s yearbook pages, PLEASE sign your name after your message, as it does not record your name with your message unless you type it out.

*For those who purchased yearbooks, they will arrive later in June. We will be in touch once they arrive to discuss how we will distribute them.

*There may be limited extra copies to purchase, however, we won’t know how many until they arrive. We will also let students/parents know to purchase the extra copies at a later date.

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Amy Stachniak at astachniak@rockyview.ab.ca
