Principal's Message

Rocky View Schools - Superintendent of Schools announces leadership announcements

It was a nice change to have the energy that our students brought to the building this week. I was amazed at how quickly and easily students and staff adjusted back to our in-person schedule.

With the return of in-person learning also brought the reality of public health measures and contact tracing with COVID-19 cases. We experienced a positive case in our school community this week and were reminded of the diligence that is needed from all us in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Public Health Protocols

1. Eating Lunch in Cars together on school property

With the restrictions on indoor gatherings in place, students have been reminded that eating lunch together in cars is against public health orders. Student choices for eating lunch include safely in their vehicle, by themselves, in their period 2 classroom, or safely outside.

2. Student Outdoor Gatherings

With the updated restrictions in place for outdoor gatherings, we will be reminding students that any outdoor gathering must be limited to 10 people, wearing masks, and distancing.

Thank you for your support and cooperation with these measures.

Semester 1 Wrap-Up

Typically at this time of year, final exams would be starting and students would be preparing for Diploma exams. With the disruptions caused by COVID-19, final exams are not being administered. Students will have the opportunity to be re-assessed in the days remaining in class in areas they could improve. Any re-assessment would be 'no-risk' with student marks only able to improve.

Monday, January 25 till Wednesday, January 27th will be mandatory attendance for students who are failing a class. This is an opportunity for them to either be re-assessed on a curricular outcome or complete projects/hands on work/quizzes/tests that could result in a passing mark. This intervention week acknowledges that students have had a lot of disruptions to their learning this fall and gives them an opportunity to not allow these disruptions to result in failing a class. Attendance for students who are passing and content with their marks will be voluntary for those dates.

Textbook and Computer Returns

We will be beginning our textbook and computer return process the week of January 18-22 for those students who no longer need these resources. Students who still need their computer or textbook to complete their courses are welcome to hang onto them until January 27th. Please remind your child to return their textbooks by the deadlines so that we have these learning resources available for semester two.

Thank you and have a great weekend,

Ryan
Congratulations to Charger Football Players Josh Christman and Mateo Gramaglia on their commitment to play Jr. Football for the Calgary Colts. Both players are physical players who will be making a ton of plays for the Calgary based football team next year. Well done!
