Principal's Message

Rocky View Schools - Superintendent of Schools announces leadership announcements

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you're doing well and looking forward to the weekend. Please see below for the updates from BCHS this week.

1. COVID-19 Update

As many of you have experienced this week, we have experienced a significant amount of cases reported at Bert Church. Over the past week, we have had to trace 8 cases at BCHS of students who were infectious while at school.

We know that these updates create stress and uncertainty for families as they receive them. We are sorry for this and are looking forward to next week when we hope to not be sending these notices out.

What we have started to see is potential close contacts test positive. The variants of concern that are dominant in our province are much more contagious than what we dealt with in November. Our thoughts are with those who are suffering symptoms from COVID-19 and we hope for speedy recoveries to all families impacted.

With classes being online, please connect with your teacher or call into the office to excuse your child if they are ill. For those who are isolating but not ill, they may continue to attend online classes.

2. Student Fees are due

Carol Twomey, our business manager, sent out a fee reminder today for those with outstanding fees. We have until Friday, May 21st, to submit our outstanding fee list to RVS. Please contact ctwomey@rockyview.ab.ca if you have any questions. Thanks for taking care of this for us.

3. Online learning

Thank you to everyone who is engaging in online learning. We know for sure it will take us to Tuesday, May 25th so we just encourage you to stay attending your courses and stay ready for a possible return to in-person learning. Teachers will be sending out their weekly learning plans prior to Monday at 9:00 AM. Make sure to check your emails!

4. Teacher Appreciation Week

This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week and I couldn't think of a better week to celebrate our staff at BCHS. Over the past 14 months, teachers have shifted between in-person and online, connecting with students throughout. Daily I hear from parents about the connection their student has with a teacher at Bert Church and it reminds me of the hard work they do each day. I am grateful for the tremendous staff we have at BCHS every week, but especially this week.

Thank you teachers, for the amazing work you do!

Have a great weekend.

Ryan

Grace was chosen out of a number of terrific candidates for the award. Her high academic achievement, involvement in the school community, and terrific attitude towards learning led her to be named the valedictorian.

Congrats, Grace - well deserved!

Wednesday was Hats on for Mental Health and our staff and students showed up online. It was fun to see staff and students supporting a great cause.
