Principal's Message

I hope you're all enjoying this wonderful weather and are looking forward to your weekend. Here are a few updates from the school.

1. Laptop Program

The loaning program begins on Tuesday, Oct 13th with our classroom laptop carts being converted to individual loaners. We are continuing to encourage students to bring their own laptops from home. In the event you do need one, students are to go to the learning commons to sign one out for the day. We will be starting with daily rentals and moving towards longer term ones if needed.

2. Health Inspection Report

We received our report back from AHS yesterday and were pleased with the results. We will be removing some furniture from staff areas and other spaces in the school that cannot be easily disinfected. Overall, AHS was impressed with the routines established by our staff and students and encourages us to be diligent with them moving forward.

It was a good reminder that while it feels we have been at school for awhile, it has only been 26 days. All of the public health measures in place are designed to slow the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses, not eliminate the threat. Continue to do the daily health check, stay home when symptomatic, and follow AHS guidelines. For a detailed "What should I do when my child doesn't feel well" chart, please see below.

3. Online Learner Support

For our students completing their learning online this year, remember you are still part of our student body. While it might feel you are missing out on things that are occuring at school, the reality there is not as much going on as usual. If you want to keep up with student life, please follow the bchs_chargers instagram account. If you need support from an administrator, refer to the chart below. If you have any questions, we are here to help.

4. Time Capsule Reveal

On Tuesday, October 13th, we are celebrating two time capsule reveal events. At 10:00 AM, we'll be unveiling the 25 year old time capsule at Bert Church High School. If you have noticed over your time coming in the main entrance, behind this plaque is a time capsule that was placed in the wall on October 13, 1995.

We are excited to reveal it on Tuesday at the school. As part of the event, we are putting some items from the school into the time capsule and starting another one. Students filled out a survey this week to go into the time capsule. Here were a few of the results.

Quick Reference Guide
Fall has been a gift for us this year as students and staff are spending more time outside. It has been enjoyable to see the leaves actually dry up, fall, and crunch under our feet!
