Principal's Message

With our winter break beginning tomorrow, we are excited to take a break and enjoy not having to wake up to an alarm for a few days!

Over the past four months, I have taken the time to express my gratitude to students, parents, and staff as we navigated school. Through all the challenges, tight quarters, disruptive tik-tok challenges, and changing health protocols, we have tried to keep our eye on students feeling connected to the school, prioritizing student and staff wellness, and putting measures in place to see our students have academic success. We are grateful for each member of the BCHS community that contributes to this and makes BCHS a special place for kids.

Enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2022!

Upcoming Events

For everything going on at BCHS, please keep an eye on our school calendar.

Our leadership kids once again planned a fun week of activities leading up to winter break. Some of the best news is the massive amount of food that was brought in for our Airdrie Food bank this week. Thanks to all Chargers for your generosity to those in need this Christmas.
A fun tradition returned to BCHS this week as the Bert Church Invitational basketball tournament was played starting Thursday, Dec 16th. It is good to see our kids remaining active and getting to play opponents from around the province. Good luck Chargers!
Ms. Marter said goodby for awhile today as she is excited to become a mom for the first time! In typical PE teacher style, she was doing pushups right till the end. I wonder if Mr. Blumhagen could keep up with her?

We are excited for Ms. Marter and to welcome Ms. MacEachen full time to replace her while she is on leave. Ms. MacEachen has been teaching part time PE and CALM at BCHS this fall.
Students in Ms. Williams Social Justice class created a display showing the location of residential schools in Canada. The display is in the main hallway and is part of our commitment to truth and reconciliation at BCHS.
We're always encouraged seeing our Chargers making waves in the community. Ben Vatcher and Heather Nunn, two BCHS students, recently skated on the national stage for the first time. The dedication and commitment it takes to get there is outstanding and speaks to the character of both individuals! Well done kids!
Speaking of outstanding Chargers, it is great to see three of our football players represented on the u-16 team Alberta squad heading to BC next week. Good luck to Ben Klassen, Rain Banick, and Kendrid Price!

As winter break approaches and travel plans are being made, we wanted to ensure families are aware of current federal requirements for travel. For families considering travelling outside of Canada, please be aware that under federal travel requirements unvaccinated children under 12 (including those who have had their first of two vaccine doses) are not to return to school for 14 days once they return to Canada. Please see the full requirements outlined by the Government of Canada https://www.rockyview.ab.ca/school_2021/travelling-and-return-to-school
