Principal's Message

 
With four weeks left to go prior to our winter break, we are starting to think of the end of semester 1 and preparing for semester 2. Next week, I get to sit down with many of our staff to discuss their professional growth plans for the year. These conversations shape their personal goals and what we need to do as a school to support them in achieving them. After the past 21 months, it feels good to discuss a range of goals that staff have and how they plan on implementing them. I look forward to the conversations.

Our leadership students have once again been busy, selling Donut Man doughnuts for a good cause. Over 100 orders were received with varying degrees of numbers (1 - 10) to support a local Crossfield company with proceeds going to the Cancer Society. Well done kids!

Good luck to our volleyball teams as they are in Okotoks for zones this weekend. We are excited to see how they do and proud of their efforts this year. Once again, a big thank you to our volunteer coaches, both teachers and community members, for your commitment to extra curricular activities at BCHS. Our fall sports season was a lot of fun due to our volunteers and students. We look forward to basketball season kicking into gear in December with four BCHS teams taking the court.

Speaking of December, our theatrical arts dept. is putting on a play titled A Winter's Gift. We are thrilled to be hosting live theatre again and look forward to seeing our talented kids performing. For tickets, please follow this link.

We have 6 out of the 8 portables placed and work continues to get them ready for students. We are excited to be able to utilize them when they are ready. Our plan still continues to be a Semester 2 move in.
Our CTS students in Sports Med and Sports Performance were once again busy, learning to tape for shin splints and doing yoga! Great to see these lifelong skills being utilized.
BCHS is fortunate to have not one, but two food related CTS programs. Our Foods students were working on souffle's this week and they turned out great! Thanks for sharing Mrs. Chapman.

Hello Everyone,
 

My name is Jessica, and I am an Addiction and Mental Worker with Rocky View Schools. This is a new role within RVS that was introduced as part of a response to the impacts of COVID-19. I will be working with Bert Church High School every Tuesday, for a full day, until the end of the school year. 


As the Addictions and Mental Health Worker I am here to support the staff and students in addressing issues with addiction and mental health.

My role within RVS includes:

  • Classroom psycho-educational presentations on various topics involving substance and behavioural/process addictions
  • Information booths and connecting to community resources
  • Staff professional learning, coaching, consultation, and collaboration
  • Parent education and addiction awareness


I look forward to getting to know everyone at Bert Church High School throughout the rest of the school year!!

The dance is being organized by the Grad Parent and Student Committees. Information regarding the Commencement Ceremonies (walking the stage) will come from the school at a later date. 
 
Fundraising information will be coming soon. Fundraising will be used for decor, lighting & increased food options. Fundraising will not reduce the ticket price, so get your tickets now!
