Principal's Message

 
We returned to a full week of activities at BCHS this week after a nice long weekend. The stretch from Thanksgiving to Christmas is the longest uninterrupted time in the school calendar and we look forward to gaining momentum in the first semester. Below are a few updates from the school.

1. Portable Progress

In trying to keep you updated on our building plans, the preparation for the portables is almost complete. We are awaiting the buildings and some permitting. At this point, we do not know when they will be installed except that the preparation work is moving along. Staff and students are doing a great job of managing in a crowded building!

2. Cross Country heading to provincials

As you'll see below, our BCHS athletics are keeping many of our staff and students busy. This Saturday, we have three students heading to provincials in Cross Country. Congratulations to Willem Grant (1st place in South Central Zone), Chaysum Gikas (3rd) and Zayne Bonghazale (9th) on great finishes at zones. Good luck competing against the best runners in the province this weekend!

3. Parent Teacher Conferences - save the date

Our Parent Teacher Conferences will be hosted on Zoom this fall, with the events running from 4:30 - 7:30 on Thursday, October 28th and Thursday, November 4th. We look forward to connecting with our parent and student community on those evenings to talk about their learning!

Our Math 9 students get to do some more hands on learning this year. Students engaged in a game of BEDMAS Bump this week to reinforce order of operations!
Students in Ms. Marter's Sports Performance 20/30 class had a great time at participating in a HITT and Spin class. Looking good folks!
We honoured our 2020.2021 Academic Award recipients in the BCHS theater on Thursday night. So many students persevered through trying circumstances last year and it was fun to see some of them again. Congratulations to all of our award winners and thank you for representing BCHS so well.
Chargers were in action on the soccer pitch with the girls playing WH Croxford to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday. Well done ladies. For standings and more, check out RVS Sports!
Friday night saw an entertaining football game end with the Chargers defeating WH Croxford 34-6 in the inaugural Turkey Bowl. Congratulations everyone and thank you to our BCHS band for the halftime entertainment!

Our Charger Volleyball teams were in action on Wednesday night with all 4 clubs winning against Bow Valley. Congrats to the players and coaches!

Alberta Virtual Post Secondary Fair

Upcoming dates : October 20, 5-7pm & October 28, 5-7pm
