Principal's Message

Rocky View Schools - Superintendent of Schools announces leadership announcements

Good Morning,

I hope your week is going well and you're looking forward to the weekend. We had a full week at school as we round into May and look forward to the end of the year. Please see below for some updates at BCHS this week.

1. BCHS Shifts to Scenario 3 starting Monday, May 3rd.

On Thursday, April 29th, Premier Kenney announced new restrictions to target areas of the province that are considered COVID-19 hot spots. Airdrie was included on this list as our current rate/100,000 people is 511. As part of the new restrictions, students and staff in gr. 7 - 12 in Airdrie  will move online for a minimum of 2 weeks. K - 6 students will be staying in person.

The shift back to in-person will only occur if case/100,000 goes below 350. In Airdrie, this would mean our active case count needs to go down to about 215 (currently at 358). The shift to at-home learning will being at 9:00 AM on Monday morning. What you need to know is:

a. Weekly Learning Plans - Teachers will be emailing all of their classes a welcome email on Friday, April 30th, prior to departing for the day. This email will include the Parent/Student Guide, updated for April 30th, as well as a reminder that a weekly learning plan will be coming on Monday morning prior to 9:00 AM.

b. Synchronous Learning Continues - Similar to November/December, students will be joining their classes at their regularly scheduled times for synchronous learning opportunities. Not every class all week will be the same 90 minutes, but teachers and students will still be connecting synchronously, online. Think December, not last spring

c. Maintain Routine, Stay Connected, Continue Learning - Our messaging from November/December remains the same for May. It is best if students maintain their routine, attend their classes virtually, stay connected to each other and their teachers, and continue learning. For more information on best ways to connect, please follow this link

We look forward to seeing everyone (online) Monday!
