Principal's Message
Our second week of at-home learning concluded with kids and teachers remaining engaged in their synchronous, online learning. Thank you all for your continued commitment to this change.
A couple of notes heading into our last week before break.
1. Weekly learning plans - Dec 14 - 18, Jan 4 - 8,
Students can expect their learning plans for the week of Dec 14 - 18 by Monday, Dec 14 at 9:00 AM. Staff may send out their learning plans for January 4 - 8 prior to departing for winter break this Friday. This does not mean students have to complete the work over the break.
2. Next day of in person learning
A reminder that school will re-open for in person learning on Monday, January 11th. The first week back from break is still online.
3. Last day of semester 1 update
There have been some changes to the calendar with diploma exams being made optional and gr. 9 PAT's being cancelled.
Friday, January 22nd - Last Regular Day of Classes for Semester 1
Monday, January 25th - Wednesday, January 27th - Intervention/Reassessment opportunities to ensure students achieve their maximum credits for semester 1.
Thursday, January 28th - Transition from S1 - S2 day (grades are submitted to Alberta Education)
Friday, January 29th - Professional Learning Day
Students in diploma classes will see their final day be Tuesday, January 19th. If targeted intervention is needed for any gr. 12 students, they may be asked to attend the week of the 25th - 27th.
4. Students Wanting to Write Diplomas
There could be some circumstances where students want to write their diploma
- home education students if required by a post-secondary institution
- adult students who can write an exam without taking a course
- students who do not have a passing mark from their teacher
- students who want to raise their mark, or want to have a diploma exam mark on their transcript
- students who are registered to rewrite a diploma exam and are not currently taking the course
We would request if you are interested in still writing the exam to email mcumberland@rockyview.ab.ca prior to winter break. Students do have up until the day of the exam but the earlier we know numbers of people still wanting to write the better planned we can be. For any questions about diplomas, feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher or rreed@rockyview.ab.ca.
Thanks again for all of your hard work - have a great rest of your weekend!
Ryan
