Principal's Message
In what can only be described as a first semester unlike any other, we have reached the last official day of classes. I am proud of all the students, parents, and staff for their dedication and flexibility in getting to this point.
For updates on what comes next, please continue reading below:
1. January 25 - 27 Expectations
- Buses and bell schedules will run as normal meaning that once a student arrives at school and decides to stay the entire day, they are to follow their bell schedule.
- If a student is failing a course, attendance is mandatory
- If a student is passing all of their courses, and content with the grade they have received, attendance is voluntary.
- If a student wants to improve their grade, they will attend for re-assessment purposes.
- For COVID protocol purposes, students must be in their designated classes during the school day.
- The last day for students to be re-assessed to improve their mark is Wednesday, January 27th, allowing us Thursday, January 28th to transition from semester 1 to 2.
- Friday is a professional learning day with no classes for students.
2. COVID Protocols Update
Thank you to everyone who has had conversations with your child about good public health protocols. Students have been very agreeable to wearing their masks in group gatherings outside and trying to stay distanced. We had a public health inspection this week and she was impressed with our student's public health compliance. Thank you for your partnership in this.
We do know students are still riding in vehicles together but the gatherings over lunch on our property have diminished. We are still working to educate students on why being in a small space like a vehicle is problematic for germ sharing. Thank you for working with us to find alternate ways for your child to get to school if you were relying on carpooling with friends.
3. Transitioning to Online/In-Person - S2
We are working with our students transitioning to online and back to in-person to ensure their start is as smooth as possible. Our administrative and student services team has been busy enrolling online students in courses for S2. To help support our online students and teachers better, Mr. Makkreel has been designated as our online administrator. He is to be the first point of contact for questions regarding online at the school. This will help our online students and teachers have a person they can reach out to in the event they have a question and he can either answer the question or point them in the right direction.
For those students transitioning back to in-person, the information will be sent to ensure you are aware of your schedule and health protocols that are in place to make BCHS a safer place for in-person learners. Look for this near the end of next week.
Thank you and have a great weekend,
Ryan
