Principal's Message

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend ahead. We are in the heart of the first semester, and BCHS is busy. Read about a few of the highlights below.

1. Volleyball season wrapping up!

Good luck to our four volleyball teams as they compete in zones this weekend in Okotoks. The teams have played hard all year and are looking to do their best this weekend. Good luck, Chargers, and thank you coaches for your hard work and dedication.

2. Parent Run Graduation Banquet - Save the Date

Our parent graduation committee has met and discussed plans to celebrate the class of 2023 with a banquet in May. Save the date for Friday, May 26th. See the graphic below.

For interested students, there will be a meeting on Monday, November 21st, at lunch to discuss committee roles. Meet in Room 1005 (Ms. King's) at 12:00 on Monday to learn more.

To get involved in the parent committee, contact 2023bchsgrad@gmail.com for more information. If not, you can also email Katie Heaven at Katie-heaven@hotmail.com

Some fundraising efforts have already started to help offset the costs. The two the committee wants to bring to everyone's attention are a pizza fundraiser through Panago and a bottle drive!

Monday, November 28th - Pizza Fundraiser - Panago Pizza (more details to come once flyer is created)

Saturday, December 3rd, drop off your bottles in the parking lot West of BCHS from 10 - 12 PM!

3. The Cobble Classic - Friday, November 25th

Our student/staff hockey game has been renamed the Cobble Classic in honour of our beloved former colleague, Norm Cobble, who passed away suddenly last spring. Norm was a big fan of this opportunity to lace up the skates, and the event has been named in his honour. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Children's Hospital.

We encourage as many kids as possible to attend. The day will run with a modified schedule to accommodate the students attending and playing in the game. For those who do not attend, alternate activities are planned at the school. Thanks to our leadership students for organizing!

Have a great weekend!

Getting off campus is helpful for our Photography students. They recently visited the zoo, and the results speak for themselves. Wow, are there some talented kids in that class? Thanks for sharing Mr. Maudie.

Alberta Post-Secondary Fair

Your Connection to Post-Secondary Opportunities - Educational Liaison Association of Alberta

BCHS will host a post-secondary fair on November 30, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. It is a fantastic opportunity to ask questions to 28 Alberta post-secondary institutions, including Colleges, Universities, Technical Institutions, the RCMP, and the Canadian Forces.

You can inquire about programs, admission requirements, scholarships, housing, and more during this fair! Nowhere else do you get all these institutions in one place, so be sure to take full advantage of this opportunity to plan for your future.

A virtual post-secondary fair will also be running on Wednesday, November 9th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. No pre-registration is necessary, and students do not have to stay the whole time. To join the event, go to elaa.ab.ca and hover on the Members of ELAA menu.  Then select View ELAA Members from the drop-down menu.  Each member institution will have a link in its profile. You can visit as many institutions as you would like.
Our Gr. 9 option courses wrapped up recently for Quarter 1 and the German 9 class celebrated with some gingerbread houses! Looks like fun and thanks for sharing Mr. Burns.
