Principal's Message

1. Remembrance Day Update: Poppies Now Sold Through School Cash Online

We are pleased to participate in the Poppy Program to help commemorate Remembrance Day. Families can make a donation, which will be passed along to our local Royal Canadian Legion in support of our veterans. On Nov. 8th, 2021, all students will be provided with a poppy to wear.

Throughout the three days of school next week, our Remembrance Day committee has planned meaningful ways for students to reflect on the sacrifice made by so many to provide the quality of life we enjoy today. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to make next week meaningful.

2. Quarter 1 Ending

The vast majority of our classes operate on a semester schedule, with the conclusion taking place in January. For our gr. 9 options and PE 10/CALM, this Wednesday marks the end of their 'quartered' classes. This means that on Monday, November 15th, gr. 9 students will attend new option classes and folks in PE 10 will transition to CALM and vice versa. We'll be in the hallways working with kids on the 15th to ensure they know where to go but it is best to plan ahead and look at your Q2 option!

3. Portables Update

There is potential action being taken next week with the placement of the portables at BCHS. If the work takes place, it will occur for about three days, starting on Monday. There is still a lot of work to be done once the portables are placed but we are hopeful that 6 out of 8 will be in place next week. Our goal is still to move into them over the January exam break in time for semester 2.

Thank you for the continued support - have a great weekend!

Our Charger football team won a thrilling playoff game against Yankee Valley rival W.H. Croxford last Thursday. With 9 seconds remaining, Charger kicker Liam Mercier drilled a 35 yard field goal to win 24-22. The team now competes for bronze in RVS play against Springbank today at 3:30 PM. See you there!
Ms. MacEachen's CALM class has been learning about relationship's this week which included a presentation from a community sexual health educator. We have been appreciative of all our community groups who have shifted to online presentations for our students.
Our Chemistry 30 kids were once again engaged in a fun, hands on lab. Esters and Polymers were the focus this week! Thanks for sharing Ms. King.
Attention Parents of the Graduating Class of 2022

A few parents have come together to put on a Grad Celebration for the Grad class of 2022. This is separate from the official convocation ceremony put on by the school.

We have sent out a survey to the students asking them if they would prefer a banquet with parents or a Prom style event with dance. We will be working with the Student Grad committee to finalize all of the details and type event the students would like to host. We are looking for volunteers to support the evening anywhere from chaperoning the event to driving students. We also likely be looking to fundraise to make the event affordable to all students. If you are interested in volunteering please send an email to bchsgrad22@gmail.com.
